Contact tags

You can use tags to manage your Contacts in a way that makes sense for you. With a combination of system-generated tags and your own custom tags, you’ll have an at-a-glance look at some of your Contacts' most noteworthy characteristics.

Viewing and editing tags for a Contact

You can view all of the tags associated with a particular Contact under “Basic Info” on their Contact Profile.

  1. To get to the Contact Profile for any of your Contacts, click on their name in blue anywhere in Zap.
  2. Once you’re on the person’s Contact Profile, go to the section labeled “Basic Info.” You should see the “Tags” section at the top.
  3. You’ll find a few tags that Zap has created for this Contact, based on their characteristics – whether they’re a broker- or agent-generated lead, or a buyer or seller, for example. You won’t be able to edit the names of these tags, but they can change automatically based on changes to your Contact’s account.
  4. Below the list of tags, you should see an input field next to an “Add” button. You can create your own custom tag for the Contact by typing in a word or phrase that applies to that Contact (you may see some suggested tags below the field). Click “Add” once you’re done typing.
  5. If you want to remove a tag from a Contact’s Profile, click the “X” to the right of the tag.

Using custom tags to find Contacts

You can also find any of your Contacts with a specific tag by using the filters on the Contact list view. Here’s how:

  1. First, click “Contacts” in the left navigation panel. You’ll be taken to the Contact list view.
  2. Click on “Filters” and find the option for “Custom Tags.”
  3. You’ll open up a drop-down menu where you can select one or more tags. Check the box beside any tag to see only Contacts with that tag.

Tips for using tags

  • Your tags will show up on list views – like the Dashboard, the Contacts page, and more. So try to use tags for things you’ll want to see at a glance, and things that will apply to multiple Contacts. This will also make them more useful for filtering.
  • Try out some of the suggested tags, like the ones related to financing and timeline to transact.
  • Remember, you can select more than one tag when you’re filtering. Selecting more than one tag will give you the list of people who have any of the tags you've selected.
