When our team here in California caught wind that there was an ERA company in Western New York driving Zap engagement in ways we’ve never seen before, we were impressed—and had to know more!
I spoke with William (Bill) Soffel, President and CEO of ERA Team VP Real Estate & Vacation Rentals, and Denise Whipp, the company’s Training Director and Zap Specialist, to find out their secrets for running an effective (and fun!) Zap promotion.
For over 25 years, ERA Team VP Real Estate & Vacation Rentals has been providing Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania with top-notch residential, second home and commercial real estate services. They’re also proud Zap users.
The company is known for its many contests, promotions, and celebrations throughout the year. “Company culture-wise, we like to have fun,” Denise told me. “We offer a couple contests throughout the year that always have a Zap component to it.”
Hitting leads right out of the park
Last summer, ERA Team VP Real Estate & Vacation Rentals hosted their first ever Listing World Series. Agents were assigned to teams and would earn runs once they completed specific tasks in Zap. “If you logged into Zap, you would get a single,” Denise explained. “You got a double if you posted a Property Insight, and a triple if you wrote a Local Insight.”
The company is also known for their elaborate holiday parties. This past year’s theme? Vegas! Same idea—agents would get points once they completed tasks in Zap, and then they were entered to win free airfare or lodging for the upcoming ERA IBC Conference in Las Vegas.
Celebrating the agent
ERA Team VP Real Estate & Vacation Rentals understands that its agents are the heart and soul of the company, and go above and beyond to recognize them. Their annual awards ceremony is an opportunity to do just that, and even includes a Zap engagement award!
Agent Day is another opportunity where agents can get the tools and knowledge they need to take their business to the next level. “We have a variety of stations where agents can stop by and get a a little hand holding, and a little Zap training,” Bill said.
Keeping up with an ever-growing platform
If there’s one thing ERA Team VP Real Estate & Vacation Rentals values, it’s Zap’s ability to keep up with the times. “It’s amazing—we have sales meeting every two weeks, and I’m always giving them something fresh and new on Zap,” Denise said.
“I remember when Zap was introduced, there was this expectation that you could take it out of the box and it would be fully developed, functional, and do everything you ever wanted it to do,” Bill recalled. “But it should be seen as a platform that is constantly growing and being added to. Over the long haul, you are better off using Zap now and developing along with it.”
