Bulk Import allows you to upload multiple Contacts into Zap at once from a CSV file or through our Google Integration.



How do I Bulk Import my Contacts?


There are two places in Zap where you can upload a CSV file or sync with your Google Contacts: 


  1. Click “Contacts” in the left navigation. Click New Contact and select Import Contacts from drop-down menu.
  2. Click the +Add button in the top navigation bar throughout Zap. Click New Contact and select Import Contacts.


Any of these actions will take you to the Import Contacts page.


Google Import


Click Google Contacts to sync your Google contacts into Zap. You will need to sign in to Google and/or select the Google account that you would like Zap with.  Once you have authenticated your account, you'll be prompted to select the contacts you'd like to pull into Zap.  Then click "Import".


Note: if you don't have any contacts in Google Contacts, even though you have plenty in Gmail, there's an easy way to get them added, before you try to sync with Zap. 

  1. Go to Google Contacts
  2. Click on Other Contacts (in the left nav). These are your Gmail contacts that are not in Google Contacts.
  3. Hover over the first contact on the list and notice the checkbox where the letter or picture was - click on the checkbox to select it.
  4. Notice that a new checkbox is available at the top of the screen to select all.  Select it.
  5. Click on the Add Contacts button to the right of the select all checkbox (it's a + with a person icon). This will add these contacts to Google Contacts.
  6. Now you're ready to sync Google Contacts with Zap!


Upload a CSV file


Click Upload CSV file to select the CSV file you would like to import. Your CSV file must contain your Contact’s first name, last name, primary email or phone number, and their Client Type and Status. You can also import more information such as addresses, secondary emails, and additional notes. 


If your CSV file doesn’t contain the Client Types or Statuses listed in Zap, you can still upload your file and manually choose the Client Types or Statuses for all your Contacts. You can also leave their Client Types or Statuses unassigned and adjust them later.


Map Fields


Once you’ve selected your CSV file, you must match your CSV columns with the appropriate fields in Zap. This ensures that your Contacts’ information in your CSV file will be correctly transferred to your Contacts’ profile. If any of your CSV columns have not been mapped to Zap fields, you will receive a message.


Review Contacts


Be sure to review the first four Contacts from your CSV file to make sure the information was mapped correctly. When you are finished, click Finish and import. Once all your Contacts are uploaded into Zap, you will receive an email with instructions on how to send a welcome email.


What if my Contacts aren’t uploaded successfully?


There may be areas of your CSV file that are unable to upload to Zap due to errors. If this happens, you will receive an email with a file that lists every Contact whose information contained errors. Simply correct the errors noted in the file and re-upload the file the same way you uploaded the original file.
